Q: How long should my video be?
A: Your video should be a maximum of three minutes long. Many of our instructors have videos from about 1:30 to 2 minutes in length, but you are free to explore your creative side. Once you can give your students a good idea of what your class has to offer, or a sneak peak into the course, you’re ready to go. Just send it in already! :)
Q: Why can’t I upload my video?
A: We keep maximum file sizes capped to 300MB, so your video might be a little too large to be uploaded onto our servers. We try to keep file sizes as small as possible to maximise the speed of our app, without compromising on video quality.
Files uploaded should also be in mp4 format, with a minimum resolution of 720p (1280x720).
Q: Why are there black bars on my video?
A: We try to standardise everyone’s video to make the user experience a more friendly one. Currently, Sifu-Sifu is using a 16:9 aspect ratio.
If you're uploading a non-16:9 file, it will be processed and displayed correctly as well, with pillar boxes (black bars on the left and right) or letter boxes (black bars at the top and bottom) provided by the player.
Q: Can I choose my own video thumbnail? (Cover Image)
A: Yes, of course! You can provide your own video thumbnail, but if no image is chosen, we will choose the (.jpg) display image to be the frame at the 10s mark of the video.
Q: How do I make my video cooler?
A: Thanks for making the first step! It takes a little bit of effort to create extraordinary listings. Here, a little goes a long way in promoting your practice.
• Ensure a horizontal display.
• Use a pair of really stable hands (or a tripod/selfie stick).
• Good lighting (natural lighting will be best; many photo/videographers coin ‘golden hour’ as sunset).
• And good audio quality.
• Use one of the many video-editing software available to create a style of your own. Examples are Final Cut Pro, and Adobe After Effects.
Q: I’m too busy to make a new video, can you help?
A: Aw snap, it would be tons cooler (and fun too!) if you could personalise your own video. This only takes a while! But sometimes, busy work schedules can be too tiring. Don’t worry, we got your back.
